Appearance: Ryou has blonde hair and blue eyes; he wears his hair just past his chin, long enough to tie into a short ponytail to keep it out of his face, but he usually wears it down. He has earrings going all the way up the sides of both of his ears, but they’re usually covered by his hair anyway. He usually looks exhausted or grumpy, and he definitely has a case of “resting bitch face.” He also has sometimes-visible fangs.
History: cw for child abuse/neglect
When Ryou was a child, he had a father in addition to his mother and sister. However, it would have been better if he hadn’t. His father held every bit of control in that house, financially, emotionally, and physically. There was no such thing as independence, no such thing as privacy, and no such thing as a crime without punishment, the problem with the last being that a crime could be anything from a less-than-perfect grade to being in the same room as him, and the punishment was always dealt harshly. Ryou took on a protective role, taking the blame for things his sister or mother caused in order to save them from his father’s wrath. And they let him; his mother would lock herself in her room, and his sister would cry and cry, not old enough to truly understand what he was doing.
He lost his patience for that one day after his father broke his sister’s arm and he was supposed to go along with the story that she’d fallen down the stairs while their mother took her to the hospital. He told his mother that he was going to the bathroom, found a nurse, and told them the truth. That it was their father, that it was always their father, that he’d tried to tell someone before and nothing had happened but he would make sure his sister was safe this time. The nurse was somewhat alarmed at his language towards the situation, but around the time Ryou entered middle school, his father was removed.
His mother didn’t cope with this well. She’s spent most of her days since locked inside her room, leaving Ryou to take care of the house and his sister. He doesn’t mind; he’d been doing plenty of it already, anyway. However, there was only so much Ryou could do, when they were still dependent on her. So for high school, he enrolled at Yumenosaki; with the money from being an idol, he could provide for his sister, without bothering with their absent mother. And he crafted an image that would help him pursue this goal - though he loves cute things, and has an instinct to protect defenseless things, he wanted to appear like someone you wouldn’t mess with. If he was tough, if no one thought he was weak, he wouldn’t have anything to fear anymore.
Personality: This may be something Ryou hates about himself, but he is a very caring and protective person. It takes very little for him to decide to take someone under his wing, and even without that he automatically provides for anyone who needs it to the best of his ability, even to the point of wearing himself out. He is happy to cook, clean, babysit, or just provide support, even though he puts up a front of protesting almost always. He likes delicate things, like doll furniture and tea cups, and he especially loves any animal small enough for him to carry. On rare occasions, he can even be convinced to carry people on his back, even though he’s small himself. He still likes to feel like he’s taking care of people.
The downside is, Ryou feels as though he has to seem dangerous to people in order to be safe himself, and is incredibly paranoid despite his giving nature. He tries to project an intimidating image, but all of his interests contrast with the fact that he still has a rock hard core underneath all that fluff. Ryou has learned to be the one devious enough to bring a knife to a fist fight, because he can’t count on the fact that the other person won’t. Still, he will give anything but himself, even just glimpses, to make someone happy.

Trivia:
- He’s protective of his unit members, but like, he’s embarrassed about it.
- He would die and/or kill someone for his cat.
- He fucking loves everything even remotely adorable which really conflicts with his image.
- He was once spotted petting a wild rabbit that he somehow got to trust him. He refuses to tell anyone how he did it.
- He has a shiny Eevee and she is his prized possession and he refuses to evolve her or battle with her because she’s too precious.
- He plays with all of his Pokemon in Pokemon Amie/Refresh. If he doesn’t, he feels bad. It’s why he doesn’t keep too many Pokemon, too.
- Colors for Peach Pike are baby blue and a light turquoise.
